THE Doncaster St Leger Yearling Sales looks set to continue on its upward curve next week, when 480 youngsters are scheduled to go through the ring. The catalogue is slightly larger than last year, when the average was a record 12,098gns, making five figures for the third successive year. Those 480 lots were whittled down from an original entry of over 1,300 youngsters. That statistic suggests plenty of potential vendors will have been disappointed, but it also is likely to mean that many good specimens will be walking round the Doncaster sale-ring.
