Aug. 18--The Bureau of Employment Programs asked the state Personnel Board on Thursday to withdraw its reduction-in-force plan, saying it was no longer necessary "at this time" because employees who were scheduled to be laid off over a six-month period would be transferred to other employment.

"The withdrawal of the reduction-in-force plan is the result of our success in finding alternative ways to keep these employees in our state work force," Gov. Cecil Underwood said ...
