Culinary arts schools might end up with too many cooks as applications for enrollment swell to an all-time high.
At Johnson and Wales University in Providence, applications to its culinary arts program have tripled in 10 years, according to spokeswoman Kristen Adamo.
The Providence campus received 3,235 applications this year, compared to 1,749 in 1990, she said.
Ken Disaia, dean of admissions, speculated the jump has been fueled by the public's growing fascination with food and celebrity chefs.
