The U.S. Department of Energy's announcement that it intends to explore using plutonium from dismantled warheads as fuel to make electricity in commercial nuclear reactors should ring alarm bells for Washington state residents.

Once again, our citizenry is being set up to shoulder a heavy, dangerous burden at Hanford in the name of world peace.

Before that lot falls upon us, residents of this state - who have nothing to apologize for when it comes to having made sacrifices for the sake of the atom - deserve forthright answers to a number of critical questions that will ...
