If an old tombstone reveals that your ancestor died Nov. 21, 1879 and his age was 69 years, 8 months and 14 days, how do you determine his birth date? Convert the information numerically into days, months and years by putting the death date first: 21/11/1879. Underneath this put the age (days, months, years): 14/08/69 and subtract days column first, then months and finally the years. In this example the individual's birth date was March 7, 1810.
