Dear Jeanne: I have tried to fix this family-favorite recipe to accommodate my father's low-sodium diet but it really lacks something. Can you help? - Karla Laws, Indianapolis.

Dear Karla: This recipe is one of those that will be high in sodium regardless. I was able to make a few reductions by substituting turkey for the ground pork and smoked ham and by using low-sodium crackers. I also lowered the fat and cholesterol with egg substitute in place of whole eggs. The only other way to lower the sodium in this recipe was to eliminate the added salt, which I found wasn't needed ...
