Leland Capps never showed any panic when his friend collapsed at the controls of the floatplane he was riding in and the Kent man, who had never flown before, realized he would have to land the craft by himself.

Federal Aviation Administration controllers, who spent 16 minutes talking Capps down to a crash landing at Renton Airport Wednesday, said the 52-year-old ((age)) nonpilot remained calm throughout his ordeal.

And he even apologized for his rough landing after the plane slid to a stop, according to a transcript of Capps' recorded conversations with air traffic ...
