Apple Computer is promoting its latest operating system as ``8 is great,'' and for the beleaguered computer company it's really true.
Sales of OS 8, the upgrade of the software that controls all Macs, by all reports are surging. Nationally, retailers are reporting a similar long-awaited surge in Mac sales. ComputerWare Inc., a 10-store chain of Mac retailers in the San Francisco Bay area, sold a copy of OS 8 every minute last weekend.
