The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration said today that Peru's air carriers now meet safety standards similar to those in the United States.
In November 1995, the FAA gave Peru a conditional rating because of concerns about the security of the country's carriers, according to Bloomberg News. The designation meant Peru's airlines could provide only limited service to and from the United States and were subject to increased FAA oversight.
