Because old George Victor lay down with a lot of dogs, a lot of people wanted to flee.
Fact is, folks up at Washington Natural Gas Co. on Mercer Street often took the stairs if they saw George on the elevator. And sometimes the cologne he used to cover the dog smell was downright overpowering.
