Three North Korean patrol boats crossed into South Korean waters today and fired at a South Korean navy ship before retreating to the North, the Defense Ministry said. No casualties were reported.

The ministry said the three North Korean ships crossed the border on the west coast about 2 p.m. and fired three shells at a South Korean patrol boat.
