The decision by the largest organization of black journalists in the country to attend a conference in Seattle next summer was met with relief yesterday by event organizers, who had feared a boycott would sow deep discord.
The executive board of the National Association of Black Journalists voted late Wednesday to attend Unity '99 even though the organization's president had expressed reservations about coming to Seattle if state Initiative 200 passed.
