From the outside, the Symphony Hall in Birmingham, England, looks like the inside of a shower stall. The building's glazed surfaces even have a slightly grayish greenish cast that hints of mildew. If they put a blinker circuit on the illuminated red plastic sign that identifies the hall near its roofline, you'd swear you were at the entrance of Discount Dan's World of Value.
It's ugly.
On the inside, you shield your eyes the first time you enter. The pinks and oranges and yellows are unexpected and a tad too neo-something and bright - the colors glow more ...
