Some 10 graduates of Seoul National University (SNU) are pushing for a plan to visit Pyongyang to commemorate the late renowned North Korean chemist Lee Sung-gi in February, 2001. Dr. Lee served as the dean of SNU's College of Engineering before he went to the North in the earlier days of the 1950-53 Korean War. He had taught for years at Kyongsong (Seoul) Imperial University, predecessor of SNU during the Japanese colonial period of 1910-45.
