For about } of its length, "The Original Kings of Comedy" feels like the funniest movie of the year. It's a concert film featuring four stand-ups, so it doesn't have the unique pleasure of a well-executed story, but it does have plenty of laugh-out-loud lines, many of which come from D.L. Hughley (the other three are Steve Harvey, Cedric the Entertainer and Bernie Mac, who play to a largely African-American audience in a vast auditorium).

Hughley is the most energetic of the four, and he seems to be the sunniest, but there's an intriguing undertone of anger in his jokes. ...
