Let us now praise Walker Evans.

Twenty-five years after his death, Evans (1903-1975), the great documentary photographer, has become the object of well-deserved and long-overdue tribute, including a recent retrospective exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art on Evans and the rise of documentary photography, and the reissuance of Evans' best-known published work.
