Seattle's last 20th-century year packed a populist punch in the visual arts. There was plenty for a wide range of audiences to appreciate.
1. The top show was ``Impressionism: Paintings Collected by European Museums'' at the Seattle Art Museum from June 12 to Aug. 29, which drew about 316,000 visitors. Some art-world regulars sneered, and boy, were they wrong. Anybody tired of Cezanne, Van Gogh and Monet should pack it in. That person's tired of art, period.
