The utility meter market is in a state of unrest. Price competition is cut-throat, research and development (R&D) pressure is rising, and commercializing a reasonably priced communication-enabled single-phase meter has been a challenge. The market anxiety and unrest is hidden behind closed doors. Technology advancement at the market-level is making marginal gains. A few competitors are making power plays that will lead to good profit-taking two and three years down the road.
