Why should 21st century biologists be interested in a biography of T. H. Huxley? Surely the ideas expressed so eloquently by "Darwin's bulldog" over 100 years ago have little relevance today beyond the strictly academic interests of historians and philosophers of sciences. In fact, Huxley's popular legacy may well have overshadowed his scientific contributions.
