PHASE 1 of Line 2 of the Shanghai metro was officially opened on June 11. Phase 1 is 16.3km long with 12 stations, and is mainly underground. It runs from Zhong-Shan Park via People's Park, where it connects with Line 1, under the Huangpu River to Long Yang Road in Pudong. There will also be an interchange with with the new Pearl Line at Zhong-Shan Park when that opens later this year.
