MSI BUYS OUT VODAPHONE IN UGANDA.(MSI Cellular)(Brief Article)

MSI Cellular, the cellular telecommunications business with operations throughout Africa, has acquired Vodafone's holding in Celtel in Uganda and has recently been awarded an operating licence in Burkina Faso.

MSI has acquired a 36.8% holding in Celtel, the Ugandan mobile network operator, for some $7m. The acquisition takes MSI's holding in Celtel to 89.5%. The remaining shares are held by the International Finance Corporation.

In a separate development, MSI has been awarded one of the two new licences to be given by Burkina Faso. The new licences ...
