The Corte Suprema de Justicia (CSJ) suspended Criminal Court substitute Judge Walter Solis on July 24 for dismissing charges against defendants in two sensational cases. After an initial hesitation, the CSJ's disciplinary committee suspended Solis, as pressure mounted from the Catholic Church, the Comision Permanente de Derechos Humanos (CPDH), and prominent members of the National Assembly.
