Court halts fishing in sea lions' habitat.(Nation)

The Federal District Court in Seattle has moved to save the lives of the giant sea lions with big eyes and doll-like faces that are being starved to extinction in the Pacific Northwest.

The court ordered a halt to "all groundfish trawl fishing" in designated areas of the Baltic Sea, Aleutian Islands and Gulf of Alaska that constitute the Steller sea lion's "critical habitats," meaning areas considered essential for the existence of the species.
