SAN DIEGO -- Sentinel lymph node mapping proved highly accurate in diagnosing vulvar cancer metastases in two studies presented at the annual meeting of the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists.
But the data do not yet answer lingering concerns about whether the procedure can lead to a higher risk of recurrence or affect mortality rates, speakers said.
A study of lymphatic mapping using intradermal injection of isosulfan blue dye identified the sentinel node in 46 of 52 patients (88%) and 57 of 76 groins (74%), reported Dr. Charles Levenback of the University of Texas M.D. ...
