The Oxygen channel is up and breathing. Now to see if it takes off running.

Part of an audacious startup called Oxygen Media, the women-targeted cable network made its debut Wednesday night. Initially, it's reaching 7 million to 10 million homes. But with such heavy hitters as Oprah Winfrey and Procter & Gamble on its side, expectations are high.

Although the Oxygen channel is not available on cable systems in Greater Cincinnati, the Web component already is available to any PC user with an Internet connection (oxygen.com). Area cable providers Time Warner Cable, Insight ...
