Jul. 9--It's hard to fight ghosts.
No one, perhaps, knows that better than Gannett Co., the Arlington, Va.-based media giant.
It has fought them in Des Moines, Iowa, since 1985, and in Louisville, Ky., since 1986. Beginning in August, it may find itself fighting them in Indianapolis and Phoenix, too.
