Evangelist Alex McFarland of Greensboro had 48 nights of preaching behind him and only two to go to make his goal: Proclaiming God's word in 50 states in 50 days.

So what happens on Day 49? A German shepherd clamps down on his arm outside a church in Chase, Md. Good thing the mutt finally let go. Because had he not, McFarland would have delivered his message with a dog dangling from his arm.

"It was a last-ditch attempt by the devil to keep me from getting my preaching done," McFarland said.
