King Neptune knows exactly who he is two months before the public gets the word.

And it's his job - no matter how excited he is - to help keep the secret.

That's the fun part, said Lawrence Sutton, 66, who was unveiled last Sunday by the Virginia Beach Neptune Festival as King Neptune XXVII.

Throughout the previous weeks, colleagues, friends and family dropped hints and tried to goad him into admitting his position.

``Man, you're it. I know you are,'' they would say.

``Me? No. It's not me,' '' Sutton would reply.
