The cloverleaf interchange of Military Highway and Interstate 264 will be fully opened by this afternoon, uncorking a major choke point, traffic engineers hope.

Timed signals that have governed the twisting, curling lanes on Military Highway and steered traffic to and from the interstate will be gone before the evening rush hours, the Virginia Department of Transportation said Thursday.

And it's all happening about 10 months ahead of schedule.
