TO A DEGREE IMPOSSIBLE TO RECONCILE WITH WHAT IT HAS to offer, Turkey remains for us an undiscovered country. The traveling show "Palace of Gold & Light: Treasures from the Topkapi, Istanbul," gives an inkling of what so many of us have been missing. The show, which premiered at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., opens this month at the San Diego Museum of Art (July 14-September 24), then goes to the Museum of Art in Fort Lauderdale (October 15-January 14).
