These days, no one in Korea can be blamed for the general trend of loving and admiring only large-scale events and grandiose themes. Living in a small country that is vulnerable to pressures from surrounding powers like the United States, China and Japan, many people, particularly those in leadership, have developed a penchant for big events to boost their self-esteem and reaffirm its national identity.
