ULD Head Lee Han-dong Tapped as Prime Minister -- JR Again Joins Hands With DJ.

President Kim Dae-jung yesterday designated Lee Han-dong, 66, president of the United Liberal Democrats (ULD) as prime minister at the recommendation of ULD founder Kim Jong-pil, said Chong Wa Dae chief of staff Han Kwang-ok.

Han said the government yesterday sent a motion to the National Assembly to get approval for Lee's prime ministerial post.

The chief presidential secretary said President Kim tapped Lee as prime minister in line with his 1997 pre-presidential election pledge with Kim Jong-pil for a coalition partnership.
