A coalition of environmental groups is urging the state to continue its public outreach efforts as agricultural officials ready their chemical attack against the dreaded glassy-winged sharpshooter.
Pesticide applicators are expected to begin spraying the chemical carbaryl -- known by its trade name Sevin -- in the infested residential areas of Porterville as early as Tuesday. In Fresno County, spraying could start in the next two weeks.
