The introductory research methodology course and statistics course are particularly important because they are typically the only formal exposure to statistics received by graduate students in social science programs. The students' experiences in those courses may cement their attitudes toward the field of statistics and thus determine whether they become consumers of statistics in the future (Onwuegbuzie, DaRos, & Ryan, 1997).
