Sens. Paul Wellstone, D-Minn., and Pete Domenici, R-N.M., brought new life to their effort to expand health coverage for the mentally ill Thursday, winning Senate passage of a scaled-back version of their bill.
By an 82-15 vote, the Senate passed the bill, which would require health insurers to set the same lifetime and annual coverage limits for mental and physical care. However, the measure would allow insurers to include mental illness in a lifetime limit for all health coverage.
