A proposed amendment to the Minnesota constitution ensuring a right to hunt and fish was approved Wednesday by the Senate, despite a handful of protests that it would "make a travesty" of the foundation of state government.

"This is frivolous," said Sen. Carl Kroening, DFL-Minneapolis. "How about a right to a job or a living wage? Those are the important things, not this issue."
