Few choreographers make funnier dances than Paul Taylor does. OK, few choreographers make funny dances at all, but Taylor - a tall, mordant-looking guy who seldom smiles - has a knack for the wacko.

The Paul Taylor Dance Company's concert tonight at Northrop Auditorium is an unusually funny affair featuring two of his most recent, and giddiest, concoctions: "Funny Papers" from 1994 and his brand new "Offenbach Overtures."

In between, in typical fashion, will be his mysterious, affecting "Musical Offering" to J.S. Bach music, anything but a comic dance. ...
