Duluth's New Moon publisher buys HUES.(VARIETY)

New Moon, the Duluth publisher of a nationally acclaimed magazine for girls, has acquired HUES, a progressive national magazine for high-school girls and college women.

"We loved the magazine the first time we saw it," said Joe Kelly, co-publisher of New Moon with his wife, Nancy Gruver. "Now we'll have HUES to offer young women who outgrow New Moon," he said.

Kelly and Gruver see the purchase as a way to keep hard-earned subscribers in their pocket. HUES, which started as a project in a women's studies class in Ann Arbor, Mich., grew to a full-color national magazine in ...
