Travelers accustomed to settling in for a movie aboard long domestic flights may want to pack a book for their next excursion on Northwest Airlines. Effective today, Northwest is dropping movies from all domestic flights within the continental United States.

The cost-saving step will affect domestic flights of more than three hours, which make up less than 6 percent of Northwest's domestic flights, the Eagan-based airline said. Flights of less than three hours have not offered movies previously. Northwest said it will continue to play movies on all of its international flights ...
