It's time for Lake Nokomis and Lake Hiawatha to get the same sort of cleanup attention that the Minneapolis Chain of Lakes started to get about five years ago. The program, under a plan recommended by a citizen committee, would cost nearly $2 million. The lion's share of the money would pay for installing a series of traps around the lakes to capture more of the water-borne phosphorus that nourishes algae, in turn clouding the water.
