Guthrie Theater artistic director Joe Dowling has named James Houghton, the founding artistic director of the highly regarded Signature Theatre Company in New York City, as the Guthrie's artistic adviser.
Though he will remain in New York, Houghton will advise Dowling on artistic planning and policy, with an emphasis on expanding the Guthrie's programming to include contemporary writers.
