NORTHBORO -- Jenny Rossman scored with 54 seconds to play as 11th-seeded Newton North slipped by sixth-seeded Algonquin, 11-10, in a first-round matchup in girls lacrosse tournament action yesterday.

Newton North will travel to Winchester on Thursday (5 p.m.).

Rossman scored two of her four goals in the final six minutes as the Tigers came back from a 10-8 deficit.

"They played with guts today," said Newton North coach Stephanie Bowers. "We were forcing things early but they slowed it down in the end."
