ON day five of our look at the heroic rescue of 340,000 British and Allied troops from the beaches of northern France,

HAYLEY CUTHBERTSON talks to Alfred Murch about his dramatic role in the retreat.

ALFRED MURCH remembers his part in the evacuation of thousands of Allied troops from Dunkirk as a job from hell.

As a 21-year-old infantryman, Alfred was assigned to the rear guard action, keeping German troops at bay while the men scrambled to the small boats off the shores of Dunkirk, and to safety.
