COMPUTER engineer Peter Paterson was looking for bites rather than bytes in the second heat of the Scottish Club Championships.

And bites he had in plenty. Peter, of IBM Angling Club, boated six rainbows weighing a total of 11lb 7ozs to help his club to first place and secure his own place in the Champion of Champions final on October 15.

In a disappointing Saturday night, just 59 fish were caught weighing a total of 112 lb 1oz. But that weight is a fine testament to the size and quality of fish now being stocked at Menteith.

It was a cracking night in a great year ...
