May 27--Acquisition-minded Devon Energy Corp. of Oklahoma City has agreed to acquire Houston-based Santa Fe Snyder, one of Houston's larger independent oil and gas companies, for approximately $2.35 billion in stock.

This is the second significant Houston oil and gas company bought by the Oklahoma City-based company within the last 12 months. This deal will make Devon the fourth-largest independent in the United States.
