Economic assessment of a recently completed landmark randomized clinical trial using a catheter-based, gamma radiation (Iridium-192) ribbon for reduction of in-stent restenosis (patients with reoccluded or narrowed stents) indicates this therapy is clinically effective and may be highly cost-effective by the end of the first year after treatment.

Known as Gamma-1, the study was funded by Cordis Corporation, a Johnson & Johnson company, and utilized gamma-ribbon radiation therapy licensed from Best Medical, Inc.
