Rubin "Hurricane" Carter conceded there's some literary license in the film about his life starring Denzel Washington.

But Carter made no apologies.

In fact, he said, that license is being blown out of proportion by those who are uncomfortable with the part of the story that is undisputed: After being wrongly imprisoned for almost 20 years, he was freed on a writ of habeas corpus, a right that has been greatly curtailed in the last decade by Congress and the Supreme Court.
