Men fail to seek health care until it's too late, a new study says.
The study also found that in the past year a quarter of men had not seen a doctor.
The study was sponsored by The Commonwealth Fund, a philanthropic foundation that promotes health awareness.
"Society's demand that men be strong and stoic can be harmful to their health if it causes them to ignore what their bodies are telling them and avoid seeking needed medical care," said David Sandman, lead author of the study.
