MB Phaseout Causes Problems for Farmers.(Brief Article)

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced recently that a phaseout of methyl bromide, a pesticide (MB) used for tomatoes, strawberries and rose plants, will cause $450 million in losses if an alternative isn't developed.

Some progress has been made in creating alternatives to MB which has reduced the initial losses estimate revealed in a study done by the department. Despite the progress that has been made, the department said that much work has yet to be done.
