Britain's judges are in the dock charged with being out of touch with ordinary people.

The country's most senior judge, Lord Taylor, says they must show that they do not "live on another planet".

Doubtless he had in mind characters such as Mr Justice Harman, 65, voted Britain's worst judge following a catalogue of blunders. They include not knowing who Bruce Springsteen, Gazza and Oasis are.

So we put 10 questions about everyday life to five judges. It was frightening. Four out of the five did not even know who Ecstasy victim Leah Betts was.
